Introduction: I am a strong advocate for introducing music to people as a higher level of education because I believe it's an important part of human development. I do this on a large scale as the Teen Coordinator for the Guitar Mash here in NYC. I also produced the project "Jon Finn in Morocco" which brought Berklee College of Music Professor, Jon Finn, to Morocco to lead masterclasses and seminars for local Moroccan artists. As an instructor, I am known for my strict discipline and love of sharing. I ensure that my students execute things properly right from the beginning, all while giving strong support to the student throughout their learning process. Depending on each individual goal, I can teach my students proper instrument technique, music theory, ear training, style development, and creative expression, all through learning songs they love. Learning guitar is difficult and challenging, yet I break down the materials in a way that it is easier to understand, and create a fun environment to bring joy to my students, and make sure that they feel they accomplished something. Music is a beautiful passion that must be shared with others. I love to share everything I know about music, which is why I teach with passion.

Remy is an absolutely fantastic teacher for guitar. Remy is an incredible musician. I use the word "musician" with as much intent as possible, in this case. He is not only an extremely talented guitar player but also an educated and intelligent artist with an open mind who appreciates the part that he plays in music, not for its technical demands or for the spotlight that it may shine on him every so often, but for the emotions that it conveys, bringing the performers to the listeners to a whole new world. He puts the music and its audience first, not himself. Remy's lessons do not only teach music theory, or technical ability, or how to follow the rules of "good music." Of course he does all these things, but he does them to help us find the tools we need to both understand and express ourselves, and he does it all with a smile on his face. He quite clearly gets "it" when it comes to music, and he loves to share his knowledge and joy of it. I couldn't recommend him enough. If you have the chance to spend time with Remy then go for it! You'll learn a lot more than how to just play the instrument.

Remy is an excellent guitar teacher. Aside from his obvious technical proficiency across a wide variety of musical styles, he also has a great teaching style. He knows how to be supportive on things you are struggling with but to push you forward on things you are succeeding with. He's also a nice guy and very responsive on email and text - I look forward to continuing to work with him for a long time

Remy is a master of his trade and well worth having as an instructor. His knowledge of the guitar is extensive, and certainly anyone looking to learn the instrument will find great value in hiring Remy. His professionalism and ability to adjust to his student's experience and goals make him an undeniably good choice among other private tutors. One would be hard-pressed in finding his talents anything but useful for the aspiring guitar player.

Remy is a gifted and versatile musician and teacher. He has a fantastic understanding of music theory and multiple music genres, and is able to relate to students of all levels of ability. He can play and teach anything from rock to classical to jazz guitar. On top of all this, he is a delight to be with and super supportive to his students. Don't miss a chance to learn from him!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Berklee College of Music, BA degree in Guitar Performance & Professional Music. 3.7 GPA

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I grew up with my grandmother who taught music lessons at home. I always knew I wanted to be a musician and share my craft with others.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I co-founded and developed the "Tam'Art Intense Drum Workshop", an annual one week event that trains young Moroccan drummers. We assign each student a significantly difficult song to play, in view of performing it with a professional live band in front of an audience. We provide proper playing techniques, groove concept, and ensemble playing techniques. Our students always succeed on stage, are challenged, and have fun! We have been running this workshop for six years.
