Introduction: As a teacher, I aim to be as supportive and coherent as possible. I am invested in providing a clear path for students to take towards their musical goals. I teach virtually all genres of music and guitar styles excepting flamenco and advanced bluegrass. When playing, I strive to be honest in my expression. I see my current playing ability and knowledge of music to be a work in progress and a lifelong pursuit. In 2017, I was a semi-finalist in the Socar Montreux Jazz Electric Guitar Competition. Over the 20 years that I have been involved in music and studying guitar, I have had many teachers who inspired me, worked with me, and served as mentors at different times in my life. I want to follow their example. I am glad to meet students who are interested in music and I enjoy helping them to discover how to use the instrument and to develop the skills that will allow them to play music. I think that teaching is one of the more positive ways a musician can be a part of their community.

I've been a fan of Andrew's playing since the day I first heard him. I appreciate how seriously and studiously he approaches music. He has put in the work to become an incredible jazz musician and he is very gifted in teaching others how to achieve the same results. Andrew taught me some very specific practice methods and techniques that not only made me feel like I walked out of the lesson as a better player, but also taught me how to continually grow for months after the lesson. He is very thorough in his approach to technique and also very rooted in the tradition of the music. He is very professional and one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I remember having a really specific question about chord voicings and he showed me more ways to practice and explore new chords than I ever imagined possible. He then explained to me that they could all be used in a lot of different contexts beyond the obvious ones and told me that if I listened to great players I would find even more ways I could use knowledge that I already had. Andrew is not only good at teaching things, like a set of interesting chord voicings, that you can add to your playing right away and feel like you've gotten a new skill right then and there, but he is also great at making his students aware of ways that they can use their own creativity to push themselves even further. I would highly recommend him as a teacher to anyone who wants to learn anything about the guitar and especially if they want to learn jazz guitar.
