I offer jazz and saxophone lessons for beginning to advanced levels. My expertise includes jazz harmony, jazz improvisation and saxophone techniques.

Some of my experience in the jazz world includes recording with and playing in the bands of Grammy award-winning trumpeter Brian Lynch, leading my own groups at leading NYC jazz clubs such as Smalls and Fat Cat, and being selected as a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition.

I am also a graduate of NYU.

Alex has been teaching my son saxophone for a few months now. Alex is a wonderful teacher, inspiring and patient. He has a great ability to communicate the excitement of Jazz and make learning saxophone a joy from the very first lesson. My son looks forward to his lesson every week and is never disappointed. They played music together from the very first day. Alex also encourages my son to explore Jazz by bringing him choice recordings of great players. But most impressive of all is that my son can hear his teacher play live in New York City Jazz clubs. It is really a dream come true to have found a brilliant young professional jazz musician who is also such a gifted teacher. My son is truly lucky to have Alex as his teacher.

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I adhere to the philosophy that the relationship between student and teacher is dynamic and the roles can often be reversed. This keeps me inspired and in turn inspires my students. For example, I find that I often benefit from revisiting basic fundamentals that I teach to my beginning students.
