Introduction: My first language and passion is photography. My primary interest is the study of graphic figures and their praxis at the rhetoric of photojournalism. I currently develop photo essays about North American culture and reside in New York City. I was born in Quito, Ecuador, where I studied methods of scientific research for 2 years at the Polytechnic del Litoral of Ecuador. I then moved to Brazil for 8 years and studied graphic design and visual programming at the Center of Art and Communication of the Federal University of Pernambuco before returning to Ecuador to began my formal studies in photography at the College of Contemporary Art of the University of San Francisco. I began my career in photojournalism, which took me to all the major newspapers and magazines of Ecuador. While working effectively on assignment, covering breaking news, politics, sports, and arts, I developed my specialty in graphic storytelling and successfully originated and published my own projects, including the award-winning Prison Uprising, which depicts a period of violence resulting from the overcrowded and inhumane living conditions at the Penal Garcia Moreno in Quito, Ecuador. In addition, I created photo essays about the divergent experiences of the citizens of Ecuador. My work has received numerous awards and has been exhibited in Argentina, Guayaquil, Quito, and New York City and has been published in various books.
