About Stan's Shoots

We organize photography workshops and beginners' classes for models and photographers. Our style includes: figure photography, glamour nude, and nude and glamour photography. Most workshops are held in the NYC (Manhattan) or DC areas. We bring together models, photographers and shooting locations in a cooperative way that reduces photographer cost while increasing model revenue. Workshops are held in: NYC, the DC area, Connecticut, Houston, TX, Austin, TX and San Antonio TX.

PLEASE NOTE: we do NOT do wedding, child, or family photography.

DETAILED INFORMATION for our NYC workshops, is at: [e-mail for URL]

General:

These nude workshops are usually a free-form, non-instructional-type, still photography workshop for the purpose of learning from and sharing with fellow photographers. Generally, photographers will rotate prerogative and responsibility for placement of lights and direction of the model.

We also hold "one-on-one" sessions which allow an individual photographer to work with an individual model. Our one-on-one sessions are usually 20 or 50 minutes long.

Our usual shooting procedure:

This is our usual shooting procedure for regular sessions when working with constant light. Each photographer, in turn, will assume the role of "lead photographer". The lead photographer will have the prerogative for setting the lights and directing the model. The other photographers may shoot at all times, but they may not direct the model, set the lights or block the lead photographer until it is their turn. A photographer may cede their turn as lead photographer. New photographers who feel uncomfortable setting the lights or directing the model should consider taking a beginners' class instead. Photographers should limit their setup times to a few minutes at most since other photographers will be waiting to photograph the model. All photographers should assist the lead photographer in setting up. Complicated props and clothing, which require excessive setup or dressing times must be avoided.

Sessions are usually two hours long, and they end 2 hours after they start.

IMAGE PRODUCTION:
We also produce high quality images for models' portfolios. We are expert in the portrayal of artistic nude figure studies. Rates are negotiable, & partial, or full, price reductions are occasionally available for highly qualified subjects.

MODIFICATION OF AGREEMENT:
By accepting our participation, Thumbtack waives any restrictions on the depiction of nudity, this supersedes and amends the Terms of Use Agreement.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. We take promotional pictures for models (new, beginning, & experienced) wishing to pursue figure modeling as a career. We also provide studio space, equipment, and organizational support to models.

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. I ran a photo workshop in Old Greenwich CT for Model Zoe West. Zoe was very pleased with the results. It was the second event I ran for her, the first was in Manhattan. The photographers that attended both of the events were also happy. I'm looking forward to working with her again in the future.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Check with past users.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Reliability is very important

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How reliable are you? Do your customers keep on coming back? You should also ask to see samples of their work. Experienced photographers should have at least a hundred images available on line. There should be pictures of numerous, not just a few, models.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We are very experienced in the field, and we have an excellent knowledge of the type of images that work for the events we plan & coordinate. Additionally, we have several very experienced photographers that can take pictures in their own styles, providing different "looks".

Most importantly, we have a large, photographer following, well over 3,000, mostly in the NYC & DC areas.

We hope we can make your photography events a success!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like meeting and working with new people on a continuing basis. I also like having the opportunity to produce original art all of the time.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. I'd suggest that they find work, in a recession proof field. Our work is mostly of a recreational & entertainment nature & it is easily cut back when money starts to dry up.

Farming & ranching should be a great job, because folks ALWAYS need to eat, although a lot of poor farmers would argue the point.
