Introduction: Nadav is graduate of the New-School for Jazz and Contemporary music in New York City (BFA) and a certified teacher for the Alexander Technique (M.AmSAT). He is also a practitioner of Buddhist meditation. Based on this unique training, he offers a mindfulness based approach to music education. Nadav developed a unique method to make practicing accessible and more efficient through the use of a “yes/no” chart. This method is extremely effective with his students. Through the use of this tool with mindful guidance, Nadav’s students learn how to practice creatively on their own rather than simply be told what to do. Nadav also has an extensive background as a jazz piano performer which lends for a more lively learning environment, constantly influenced from musical experiences on the band stand. His students range between absolute beginners and very advanced, with ages spanning from 5 to 83. The curriculum he teaches is dynamic, in order to meets his students where they are and help them take themselves where they would like to go. His main expertise is Jazz but Nadav is classically trained and teaches all musical genres.

Nadav must have a calm but persuasive way of teaching, because my teenage son responds really well to his instructions to the point of taking notes and eagerly practicing SLOWLY everyday without being reminded. In fact, he of course looks forward to Nadav's lessons, but seems to be enjoying practicing piano. For the first lesson, Nadav brought 3 pieces of music for my son to choose from, based on the past videos I sent Nadav. Those were all excellent choices (interesting and level appropriate) so that my son won't get discouraged practicing a too difficult a song for months on end without improving or finding it disengaging to play too easy a song. My son started studying piano 8 years ago, but finally during this past month he's been studying piano with Nadav, he's truly beginning to enjoy music, and I can't ask for more.

Nadav is awesome! He is very enthusiastic, professional, patient, and understand what his students need. His lessons are filled with both practices and theories which not only help me to play the musics but also understand and enjoy them. I’m a beginner and have been self-teaching myself how to play the piano. But with Nadav’s help, I feel like learning a lot so I would highly recommend taking Nadav’s lessons.

Nadav teaches piano to my 15-year old teenage daughter and my 7-year old daughter. He is a wonderful teacher for both ages. As a professional pianist himself, Nadav attends to the fundamentals (note reading, rhythm, hand position, etc.), while also making lessons fun and motivating. He asks my older child what genres and songs she wants to learn, which supports her motivation. I've also been impressed by his candid conversations with her about the relationship between practice and progress. For both children, he incorporates his own terrific playing into lessons, such as playing duets with my younger child or inspiring my older child (this is what this piece can sound like!). His lessons move at a brisk pace, which supports high expectations and strong engagement. I highly recommend Nadav as a piano teacher for children and people of all ages. If you put in the practice time, Nadav's instruction will truly help you or your child learn and improve as a pianist and musician!
