FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a musician, I'm practicing for several hours a day, and I'm constantly listening to new music and checking out concerts.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I didn't actually plan on getting into music until several months before I graduated from college. At the tail end of high school, I decided to study chemical engineering in college, but at the last minute decided to attend the University of Michigan so that I could keep my passion for music going. That being said, even through college I had planned on getting an engineering job afterwards. It wasn't until after I'd accepted a full time position at a well respected chemical company that I realized my heart wasn't in it, and that I owed it to myself to give music a shot. It's worked out pretty well so far!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I'm really proud of the work that I did with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's youth jazz program. Many of my students from my time there are currently pursuing music in college, so it's very gratifying to know that I had an impact on their careers.
