It's my job to make you look good. Your image is what people see and it should make an impression.

Whether I'm photographing you for a promotional campaign or products for a catalog, the mission is the same, to create the most compelling presentation possible.

Much like choosing the right wardrobe for the right situation, having the right image will make a great first impression. Sometimes photos are for commercial reasons; sometimes they're for personal reasons; sometimes you need a sexy image, but you always want it to look good. That's what I do.

I am based in New York.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. The best advice I can give is to have a clear idea of what you want. For example if a fitness instructor approaches me and wants photos for their website, I need to know who their target market is so that I can tailor the images to their marketing plan. That is part of the client consultation essential to each shoot.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The biggest secret is that being a photographer is a lot of hard work. Lots of people think that you just push a button and go, or that you buy a nice camera and it does the work. Unfortunately it isn't that easy. Often a photo shoot requires a team of people working together and a ton of research to produce a compelling image.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. #1 Question to ask: How does the process work? In other words, find out how you go from "I have this great idea" to "Holy cow! That's what I've been looking for!"

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. In the future even cell phone cameras will be so good that being a photographer will no longer be about making pretty pictures. This kind of thing is already putting a lot of people out of work, but ultimately it will be a good thing. What people will care about is the creative vision that your imagination can produce.
