Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Psychoanalyst with specific training in relational and interpersonal modalities. Having completed graduate school at Columbia University, I went on for additional training in psychoanalysis (Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis), as well as a certificate in the supervision of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy (Natl. Institute for the Psychotherapies). I treat a wide variety of problems including depression, trauma, anxiety, stress related disorders and relationship issues. I also work with bipolarity, major depression and personality disorders. In recent years I've been working extensively with couples and find it very rewarding. My approach is generally geared toward listening, asking questions, and helping to clarify feelings that people often can't put into words. I believe that understanding what you're feeling and being able to express these feelings in an open non-judgmental atmosphere, provides the opportunity to make decisions and choices based upon increased self understanding. Therefore, you feel more confident about yourself and freer to make whatever changes and choices you have carefully chosen. When working with couples, I look to improve communication and to help each partner understand and clarify their issues within the relationship. I believe there is no œright or œwrong way to be in a relationship. Usually, the most intimate and gratifying relationships nurture both partners and the relationship itself. Learning to listen to each other and jointly seek alternative solutions is very important. This effects present difficulties as well as the development of negotiating techniques for use in the future.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Oftentimes clients come to me knowing that they feel unhappy, or frustrated, or have anger outbursts, but they don't understand why they are feeling so badly. Nothing overtly terrible has happened in their lives and even according to their own assessment, their life is fine....BUT THEY DON'T FEEL FINE AT ALL! My first "job" - a job we really do together, is to listen very carefully and begin to ask questions about things in their lives that I think could be behind their unhappiness, although they are not aware of it. My questions lead the client to think again about some of the assumptions they've made about their own feelings and we begin to understand what is behind their previously confusing unhappiness. Of course there are other situations where people do have an idea of why they feel the way they do and then my first job is to help them understand more about these feelings. I again listen and ask questions so that we can both understand the situation more fully.
