FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I started interning at a studio in NYC I got into mastering right away. Began as an assistant and quickly moved up to engineer. During that transition I was engineering recording sessions and mixing for friends and producer fellows. I felt in love with mixing and mastering and left the recording somewhat on the side even though some of my clients really like working with me from the vocal booth or the live room.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure the person you'll be working with inspires you with confidence. Follow your instincts. Invest your hard earned money wisely, ask for records he/she has worked on before. Take your time and make sure you listen to them. Pick somebody that is a dedicated mixer or mastering engineer. Try no to work with some low rate producer that happens to be good at mixing his own stuff and/or his friend's. If you pay peanuts you get monkeys.
