Introduction: I boast over 3 years of teaching experience with over 300 students. ACT/SAT/SSAT/ISEE are my specialties. For nearly three years while studying at Georgetown, I tutored over 300 local high school students in test prep through Capital Educators. During my tenure, I consistently received top scores from my students (3.96/4.0), who evaluated their teachers based on creativity, personality, helpfulness, and efficacy.
As a tutor who began teaching just two years removed from taking the SAT/ACT myself, I quickly discovered that students are much more eager to learn from someone who acknowledges his or her own weaknesses as a test taker than from someone who refuses to recognize that they do not know everything. By breaking down my own prior shortcomings on the tests, explaining how I conquered them, and leveraging my relative youth to establish credibility, my students quickly begin to trust that I not only have their best interest in mind, but also that I can be as relatable as a peer yet as knowledgable as a teacher. Coupled with a background in the performing arts, which I am continuing to pursue through musical theatre and comedy in New York, I am confident in my ability to bring an energy and enthusiasm to tutoring that make the process both exciting and insightful for its students.
