With round 1 deadline is approaching, I don’t have luxury to give myself enough time to study for more. Most test centers are fully booked on the weekend until early September. That’s when I found TPU via thumbtack when I urgently needed verbal session after failing GMAT twice. He understood my limitation for both cost and time. Therefore, he advised me to purchase enhance report so he can design curriculum best for my needs. Josh gave me 3 materials for SC and CR to study. They are very helpful compared to the other material I bought, including manhattanprep’s. He set me up with both Jae and Tim to assist in SC and CR respectively. Jae gave me a clear and concise explanation why the answer I choose is wrong that is very helpful for me to understand the concept of SC. He was very patient and kept finding a better way to explain his thoughts. Tim, on the other hand, has a different way of teaching that I also found very helpful. Rather than telling me what the answer is, he asked me to think first: which one is the premise and which one is conclusion. Even if I got it wrong, he did not tell me the answer immediately. He wanted me to grasp the idea of critical reasoning before diving to the answer. He gave a hint why it is wrong but I have to figure it out why. I think that's very efficient way of studying. That's when I realize how I have been doing CR wrong this whole time Before you decided to enroll for any big name course, give TPU a shot!!

I really enjoyed working with Josh who helped me achieve a GMAT score of 750 (48Q 45V) in 6 weeks. I had previously worked with other test prep services, but plateaued at the 710-720 range. I was stuck aimlessly doing practice problems before I contacted Josh, who responded to my inquiry within an hour. Firstly, unlike other test prep services that have very standardized curriculum, Josh diagnosed my weakest areas and customized the curriculum to make sure I was focussed. Secondly, even though his services are not cheap, I was impressed with the amount of work that Josh did behind the scenes: he constantly monitored my performance, assigned new homework, and kept me motivated with check-ins. He also came prepared to every session: for every problem set we went through, I could tell that he had meticulously reviewed my errors and always had constructive feedback for how to improve. This made every penny worth it. Lastly, what I appreciated most was how Josh went above and beyond to make sure I performed well on the test. He always made sure I understood a concept, even if it meant going over our allotted hour. When I was traveling, he worked around his schedule to accommodate our lessons even though I was in a different time zone. He even called me the day before my test to make sure I had planned out what to eat for breakfast that morning! Overall, I definitely would not have achieved my target score without Josh's help. There are many test prep services out there, but Josh's help made all the difference in achieving (and surpassing) my target score! .

In preparation for the GMAT, I first signed up for and completed a full course from one of the leading well-known test prep companies. The course was great in that it provided a thorough introduction to fundamental concepts and assigned extensive homework to help master the material. After the course, I concluded that I needed more personalized instruction, especially given the abbreviated time frame I was working with. I stumbled upon TPU was impressed by the testimonials and the vast amount of information available on the service. After filling out the intake form, I heard back from Josh almost immediately. During our first conversation, he asked great questions and provided well-reasoned responses to my (many) questions. Despite this, I was reluctant to move forward simply due to the cost of the service, but Josh remained patient with me, offered helpful advice and stayed in contact. I ended up working on Quant with Jae and am so thankful I did. It was immediately evident why Josh and his team have garnered the reputation I’d read about. Without much guidance on my part, Jae came extremely well prepared for our session. Our time was focused on quant problems, specifically number properties, rates/work, probability as well as a few others. Jae’s interactive style proved very useful and I appreciate how patient and methodical he was. My 14 year old daughter started Lowell this year. It was recommended after she took the placement test that she should get some type of tutoring support either provided by the school district or on her own. Unsure as to what to do I found Josh. We started seeing josh religiously every week for an hour. I would say 5 weeks in to the semesta my daughter's confidence had grown immensely. She maintained an A average when the average of the class was a B. Josh was able to explain very simply the concepts in the classroom. As a result of this, we see Josh when a chapter becomes confusing or she has a test. Were now almost at the end of the first semesta. Her strongest subject is maths. We are now struggling a little with Biology and were turning to Josh for help. I don't know what his magic is but I would certainly reccomend him.

I was recently in the market for a GMAT tutor and as I was evaluating all of the services provided in the area, I stumbled on TPU and their score guarantee. I had the opportunity of speaking extensively with Josh about the tutoring services they provide for a few days as I was choosing a tutor. We offer the traditional hourly a la carte as well as a flat-fee score guarantee.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In an effort to provide a unique experience tailored to the specific needs of each student we will ask you to either fill out our online New Student Contact form, or to schedule a phone call to discuss your background and goals. If you have an ESR (Enhanced Score Report) we'll ask you to send that along for analysis. If you haven't taken a practice test that will be your next step so we know what you can do and what you need to work on. We will then design a curriculum that meets all of your needs, taking into account your score data, budget, location, goals, and other personal preferences. For ultimate convenience all of our tutors are available online. First lessons are usually scheduled the day you sign up, depending on mutual availability.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our CEO has been an Education Consultant for Chicago Public Schools (designed curricula for several courses), reviewed NASA educational materials, proofread economic models for Booth School of Business, and taught college level business calculus, single/multivariable, and real analysis before founding TPU. Our partner tutors are required to have Quant scores of 50 or 51, or a Verbal score in the 99th percentile (depending on the subject they teach). All have proven tutoring records.
