FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is usually done on an hourly basis, because the length of time that we will work together is usually hard to determine at the outset. However, the length of time does depend on the client's goals and situation as well as on the client's willingness to engage the issues that may be hard to face as well as to do some of the work between sessions. At Seeking Shalom, we also have some services that we offer as a package. These are priced this way rather than by the individual components or by the time involved because this is an effective way to accomplish something in a more structured way. Generally, our pricing is for our Midtown location and for any of our staff members. If pricing is sensitive, there may be a member of the staff that is able to offer the service at a lower cost and we also generally accept a lower price at our location in the Bronx.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am regularly involved in continuing education. This helps me stay up to date within my field as well as allowing me to develop new skills and knowledge. As a licensed mental health counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist in New York, I am not required to complete continuing education to maintain my licensure. However, I feel that this is very important and complete a wide variety of types of continuing education activities. In fact, each year I usually complete many times the amount of hours required by Indiana where I am also licensed (as a mental health counselor, addictions counselor and clinical addictions counselor).
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Even when I first went to seminary, this was not the line of work that I thought I was getting into. However, it is something that I have felt called to be involved in and for which many experiences in my life have prepared me. Being able to use the gifts that I have combined with the knowledge of effective counseling techniques and spiritual connection is truly a blessing. My journey to doing this is the result of twists and turns but I am blessed that this was within God's yearnings for me.
