Find you true voice at Glenn Seven Allen Studio. We are a board member of the New York Singing Teachers’ Association.
"Glenn is able to articulate ways of addressing problems quickly, without being too theoretical. He also understands the performance experience and brings that to his teaching, helping me link my singing to my acting performance. The result is that I feel more solid and comfortable in my own talents and abilities. He's superb!"
- Matthew Morrison, "Glee" Fox Television; Tony-Award nominee, "The Light in the Piazza"
"Glenn taught me more in less time than any voice teacher I have had. As someone who is comfortable in opera, pop and musical theater, he knew exactly how to tailor his instructions in clear, specific terms that allowed me to stretch my range, strengthen my sound, and maintain my instrument. He's a beautiful singer and his passion for singing is infectious."
- Manoel Felciano, Tony-Award nominee, "Sweeney Todd"
I have worked with many singers and actors including Tony-award nominated performers from productions including South Pacific, Sweeney Todd, Pal Joey, Shrek, and The Light in the Piazza, Hairspray, etc.
Quite simply, I believe that everyone has the ability to sing. Unfortunately, we find many creative ways to get in our own way through habitual patterns and inefficient ideas about the singing process.
I come from a unique background combining significant operatic training with a master's degree in Acting. As with acting, the singing process involves the deep desire to communicate something beyond words. I teach a technique that will enable you to relax your throat, find your breath, and become a singing artist you were meant to be. I also incorporate elements of the Alexander Technique and yoga. Repetition is the soul of art!

Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. The most common service I provide is holistic vocal training, based in honest and efficient technique. This is not a studio based on gimmickry or a one-size-fits-all approach. I diagnose what the student is doing that is getting in their way from truly setting themselves free as artists. The singing has to come from a deeper place-the same place as their acting, their inspiration.
Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.
A. I have an ongoing relationship with a performer who is about to record their first album, which is based in the tradition of great jazz vocalists such as Ella Fitzgerald. I also recently completed a run of a world premier musical at the Old Globe Theater-A Room with a View-in a principal role. Furthermore, I was invited to join the Board of Directors of the New York Singing Teachers Association.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Be as specific as possible about the service you are looking for. For example, I am an across-the-board expert in my field who specializes in technique. I'm not a vocal coach who only helps develop repertoire, but an instructor of the entire singing process. This includes technique, acting, repertoire, etc. Also, my primary client base is comprised mostly of Broadway performers.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. My job is exceptionally rewarding because I get to help people set themselves free as artists. Nothing is more frustrating that getting in your own way. Through the years, I have studied so many things from acting, to singing, to performing with some of the greatest artists in the world. It is a privilege to apply all of this experience to my teaching.
Q. What is your greatest strength?
A. My greatest strength is the diversity of my background, which includes mastery of both the singing and acting process. I have performed on Broadway and also with leading opera companies in the United States, along with earning a Masters Degree in Acting from a professional training program. I feel this makes me incredibly unique as a teacher.
