- Customer travels
Having talent is a given, reaching your potential is not.
Lessons are by appointment, as the schedule allows Tuesdays through Saturdays. ( I am open to travel if necessary. A travel supplement is added to the lesson cost.) Please contact me via my phone to inquire.
My students are predominantly professional-level singers and actors. Most of them find me through referral from professionals in the industry. In almost every instance, the singer has a poor or non-existent understanding of breath management and its relationship to resonance.
Recent comments from students:
"Maria is like a vocal chiropractor for professional performers!"
Kenny Wade-Marshall, AEA
" I went to Maria yesterday for the first time and learned SOOO much! I am ready for this audition now!" Lexie G, AEA, actress
" Two hours working with Maria on my new cover shaved 3 hours off my studio recording time. Do the math!" David H., pop singer
A. For classical and theatre clients, i select repertoire most appropriate for what they offer the industry, and I also suggest appropriate industry coaches who help them polish material for performance. Pop clients who are ready for management are recommended to my industry contacts for audition.
A. Most of my clients are professional level singer/actors.
I will consider talented beginners over the age of thirteen. Beginner students must be able to read a vocal line of musical notation. Parental consent and attendance at the lesson is required for minors. Beginners are only accepted on condition of a minimum 4 lesson subscription for weekly study. Following the initial subscription, a recommendation for continued study frequency is made.
A. Learning to breathe correctly is 90% of singing well. And, in my opinion, artistic imagination is part of talent. It can be nurtured but not taught if it is very limited or absent.
A. How often should students schedule a lesson? How do you evaluate whether a student is a good match for your studio? Do you provide specific suggestions for how to practice in between lessons?
A. What are my goals as a singer? What kind of music do I want to focus on? What kind of time commitment do I need to see results?
A. The thing I hear most often within the first twenty minutes with a new client is: "It is so much easier!"
A. I love helping artists discover the potential they have in their voice. After all, as a performer your job is to share who you are with your audience, If you sing easily, you can share your story easily on stage.
A. "How long will it be before I am ready to work?" is the most common question. If you are a beginner, generally you need at least 2 years of weekly study to be competitive on the professional level.
A. People tell me I have the best ears they have ever encountered. I can usually diagnose the source of a technical problem within 5 minutes of meeting a new client. After that, it is up to the client to practice what I design to fix it!
