FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely enrolled at NYU. very important.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Hmmm. good question. In stages and attending the school of hard knocks. Possibly the seed was planted with viewing the first photography book (to the best of my knowledge anyway) at The St. Marks Bookstore, NYC, in the village circa 1971. The book was profoundly disturbing, but beautiful at the same time. The title is "Tulsa" by photographer/filmmaker Larry Clarke (check it out, but be warned it contains what especially at the time were considered explosive and in my opinion just as beautifully disturbing today. Anyway, it wasn't till nine or so years later in San Francisco in college studying Visual Communications that a friend and ex-roommate (another artist) came over to my new apartment and we went on the roof that happened to have an incredible panoramic view of the gorgeous San Francisco skyline. He went home and the next time he came over he brought his camera equipment and we went to town so to speak. There I had my first learning experience with double exposure, exposure, lighting etc. and most of all creating art with a camera and ideas.
