FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing system is based on an hourly rate for design services and can work as a project manager for 20% of the overall design budget.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Step 1: Meeting With The Client and Assessing The Project We start with a consultation in the space to go over your lifestyle and discuss expectations for the project. We have a conversation about what you want to convey in your interior, or simply how you want to feel and function in the space. We reconcile budget parameters with what you want and with your "must haves" for the project. Step 2: Moving Forward and Measurements We agree to work together by signing my design agreement, and you paying a retainer that is credited toward hours worked on the project. I measure and photograph the space. Step 3: Estimates and Budget Approval I meet with any necessary contractors and building representatives to negotiate estimates. I generate a line-itemed working budget for the project for your approval. Step 4: Design Presentation and Communication I design a floor plan, including elevations when necessary, and a mood board (in PDF format) of any furniture, lighting, tile, flooring and other materials that illustrate what can be included in the project. I present the general design ideas in person and share any material samples. Based on that meeting, I then update and share the mood board, email links or photos of elements. We continue to communicate in person, via email and via Pinterest (if you are comfortable with that format). If you would like to see available floor samples or furniture items in person, I can arrange showroom visits. Step 5: Approvals and Purchasing Everything is approved by you via email or physical sign-offs. Purchases of items and materials are typically carried out by me so that you can benefit from my designer discounts. Just provide your credit card, check, cash or wire transfer to me prior to purchase. If the you prefer to hire me just as a consultant for purchasing, you can handle purchasing yourself as well. Step 6: Receiving and Arranging Design Elements If you wish to have someone besides yourself on-site to receive and inspect deliveries, I or one of my representatives can be there to receive for the hourly rate or an additional fee TBD. That includes help for unpacking, assembling and placing items. Step 7: Project Work Oversight I can oversee any work by contractors for construction, painting or installations at the approved hourly rate or for an approved percentage of the contractor's work. Step 8: Our collaborative effort transforms our creative ideas into a unique home or business space for you! Enjoy it!
