Introduction: I'm a customer service oriented since I was 18 years old. Servicing people is what I've done all my life. I know the feeling of having downtime when your computer doesn't work. I know the feeling of losing your precious photos because they weren't backup properly. I know the feeling of being on a deadline and having to deal with PC troubles. I know how important it is to have your PC working right at all times. What I like best about my job is tinkering with old computers. When others say, "Hey, just get a new one!" I reply, "let's take a look!" An honest tech always knows when it is worth it to upgrade an older system against buying a new one. It makes me very happy when I choose a customer who can't afford to buy a brand new PC. That is something I pride myself on doing best.

First of all Kudos to Thumbtack for doing a great job of vetting their service agents! I run an internet retail business and came in to work one day to a dead computer. I was in panic mode and called a friend to assist me with an internet search for computer service professionals.we chose Thumbtack and couldnt be happier. Within the hour I had a call from Hector and to my surprise he was able to come over the same afternoon. He did some routine tests, picked up my computer and left me a desktop loaner so that I was able to continue business as usual without missing a sale. Hector was reassuring which is just what I needed and as soon as he got back to his workbench called me with the best possible news. My problem was a burned out power supply and amazingly he had a suitable replacement right in his shop and made quick work of the repair and even did some registry cleanup which enhanced my performance. Since I am extremely suspicious of service professionals (everyone has left their car to an auto mechanic, only to get an oversized bill with a litany of suspicious parts and problems that exceed the replacement value of the car) Not only did Hector provide the tri-fector of speed, skill and professionalism, the bill he provided was far less than I expected. I plan to use him in the near future for some upgrades and installations and I am certain that I will be just as pleased to recommend him to all my friends and business partners.

Hector Matias is a prolific computer technician who excels and is knowledgeable in all aspects of computer technology, repair, and hardware and software updating. I have a 2007 Dell Latitude 340 with a 55 gigabyte hard drive that came with Microsoft Windows XP and Hector was able to install Windows 8 onto my computer and provide me with Office 2013 on top of that, a great assistance to me while I finished my graduate degree during 2013 and 2014 and a mass improvement from OpenOffice, my prior word processing application. Hector was also able to provide me with a genuine product so that my wallpaper would not constantly go black, something that was an issue for me for three years due to receiving the computer used and having different programs installed by previous repair shops. As a former coworker of Hector's, I have known him since 2008 and can verify not only his integrity but his commitment to excellence and sound customer service. If you have any issues with your computer hardware or software, Hector is the man to call!

If there's one word that I can use to describe Hector as a businessman; it would be Integrity. He's more concern about doing a great job for his customers than about making money from them. Not only is he very meticulous in solving and fixing the problems with your computer, he teaches you what to do to improve the quality of your computer and keep it in good working order. I have an Asus EEE PC netbook that I wanted to replace the hard drive with for a new one. Unlike my other computers where I just had to open up the bottom to retrieve the hard drive, the Asus EEE PC has to be opened up from both the bottom and the top with the keyboard, several screws and ribbons to be removed. Hector exchanged my old 250GB hard drive for a new 500GB one, then updated my drivers. Now my Asus netbook is running better with plenty of hard drive space. If I had to pick one word to describe Hector it would be PERFECTIONIST. I had first brought my PC to Staples they spent about a week to diagnose my computer and it cost me $70. Staples had told me I needed a new motherboard. I was a little hesitant to spend another $170 on a new motherboard. And thats when I found Hector online, when i told him my problem he gave me a free diagnoses and figured out there was a problem with the boot menu and Hector fixed it in less then 6 hours after I gave it to him. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my PC

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The customer can always negotiate. My system is this. I don't charge more than it will cost to buy a new PC or a laptop. I'm very fair. If the customer feels is too much we can always talk about it. My main concern is that the customer is satisfy and that includes the cost of the job as well as the job itself.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Currently preparing myself for the Windows 7 and 8 configuration certifications as well as the Network +. I have PC subscriptions and websites for techs.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Since my first personal computer in 1999 ( which by the way I still have it and it works!) I discovered that I have the ability to understand how they work. It was like second nature to me. During the course of time I found myself helping my family and friends with their problems. One day someone offer me money to repair theirs. At that moment I decided to received special training follow by the exam and ended passing and getting my A+ certification in 2006.
