Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Make sure that you use a local surveyor, licensed in your state, that has knowledge of the property boundary and zoning regulations in your particular county, town or village. This will insure your ablility to use the survey map as required support documentation for various applications to governmental agencies such as an up to date Certificate of Occupancy from your local building department.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Conducting a survey of a parcel of real property involves not only the subject property but each and any adjoining lot that borders or touches it. Research for current deeds of record for subject and all adjoiners at both the county and local municipality level is required.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. - What is your experience in this location?
- Will the survey map show the neccessary information to use for obtaining an up to date Certificate of Occupancy?
- Will the survey map be delivered in both signed paper and digital formats?
- Have you worked with the attorney who will represent me at the closing?
