Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. If you are looking to have your video's be customized to remind of you you your special day look no further. At Picturethat Photos LLC we don't do generic "The Wedding of Barie & Ken" with names and a date. No sticky white lables. All videos are done with professional artwork and chapters and menus so you can jump right to your favorite part! Our photography and video services are done in a way that represents what is most important. You!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. A good thing to know for a bride to be is to go wedding expos. Wedding expos are like a "one stop shop" experience. There are photographers, videographers, wedding planners, flower providers, and a host of things all under the same roof looking to serve her needs. I wish my wife knew about that before we got married. We would have bickered less!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. The should probably think of the kind of photography and or video coverage they seek. For example, Just one album or a parent album set. Or does a budget only allow for images on CD. As for video, are they looking for single camera coverage or multi camera coverage.

For general event photography what coverage are they most interested in. This is good to know beforehand so a budget can be determined as the choices vary.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work stands out because rather than tell the customer "I can do this or that" I take to time to find out what THE CLIENT wants. Then I can provide some guidance to facilitate the process. Also, I pay close attention to the little details that they may miss. I go for the sentimental shots that no one may think about.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love the people and meet and the places I go. Situations may be similar but each event is totally different from the next. There is always a rush of adrenaline when I begin to work. That is when I am most alive.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I shot a fashion show at night where I used no flash at all and got incredible shots due them having a great spotlight on the models. I was able to shoot 8 frames a sec not having to use a flash and the designers were very impressed. Lighting and the right tools are key!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Not all, but some customers just think you can "fix" what ever flaw they have and just expect it for free. Doing this is very time consuming requires a great amount of skill. So time consuming that there is very expensive software designed just to do enhancements. Sometimes they reduce this skill to "clicking a few buttons". This is not the case. Digital or not, any enhancement or change is not always as simple as they may believe. This is why that kind of work is added to the cost. If you want good work, there is a premium.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I got into photography because I like working with people and I get to meet all kinds. No 2 jobs are ever the same. I like the fact that I can affect someones life in a positive way. Long after they have moved on to other things they will still have that photo or video that will take them to a time of enjoyment. That is the satisfaction I get.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I did a wedding recently where the reception was at a beautiful hall out in Long Island. The wedding party was late and did not get there until it was dark. They were concerned that they would not get good pictures. However, using a mixture of available light and flash we got GREAT pictures. They were really happy.
