I am a licensed English teacher who currently teaches middle school. I also have a Literacy K-12 master's degree and am pursuing a second master's degree in earth science.

I have been teaching for five years and have experienced teaching students on every level (honors, special needs, ESL, and at-level).

I can help your student achieve his/her education goals and prepare him or her for the NY State tests, the Specialized High School Test (SHSAT), as well as his/her homework and essays assigned in class.

I have a great rapport with my students and have seen great results in academic growth and an overall enjoyment to read and learn.

The hourly rate is flexible and can be discussed before our first session.

I offer services to all of Queens and Nassau County.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I have experienced tutoring struggling elementary school children as well as middle school aged children looking to maintain good grades, and excel to competitive high schools.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I will put forth my best effort to help your child do well in whatever subject he or she needs help in. I am professional and approachable. I provide a fresh outlook to education.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Parents should have an idea of their child's progress in school. The child should have an education goal set that he or she wants to achieve. It doesn't have to be astronomical, but a realistic goal that he or she feels confident about.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My students actually enjoy my class. I have great ratings from staff and students alike. All English teachers can teach about books and reading. I teach content as well as confidence to the children, so they walk into any situation with their heads held high.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I really enjoy teaching. There is a great reward in knowing that you have enabled someone to unlock their potential to learn and enjoy school. I enjoy motivating young minds to become better.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What times are you available? I am available after 3pm during the school year, and have an open schedule on weekends.
What do you charge? I am flexible with rates, depending on distance and number of times my services are needed per week.
Are you are licensed teacher? I am a licensed, tenured teacher with positive results every year I've been teaching.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I wish that every parent realized that their child needs to focus on schooling and achieving the highest levels. Teachers cannot do it alone. We need the support from parents.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have a couple of amazing teachers in middle and high school. I am a product of the NYC public school education system and really enjoyed school. I also enjoy reading and debating about the deeper meaning of literature.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I tutor a child that recently graduated junior high who has some special needs. He was in danger of failing his eighth grade ELA state test with a Level 1. With much support and hard work he ended up scoring in the higher realm of a Level 2. This gain is very impressive.

I was the only English teacher of summer school to have his entire class pass the state test with a level 2 or higher and graduate.

I create my own curriculum for my students. I constantly search for important nonfiction articles that will excite and motivate children to learn.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I am currently in the process of furthering my education through different educational grants and programs that are enabling me to achieve graduate credits in science related courses.
