Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Customers should do everything they can to know in detail what they want. That's they only way they can minimize design-related delays, delays in approval of modifications, and just coming to the designer and saying "that's not what I want."

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. People want to know
- what Web host is best for them
- what CMS is best for them
- what social media platform is the best match for their needs

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our staff has experience in social media dating back to several years before the term was even coined. We recognized early that the Internet was a social construct, and we have always worked with that in mind.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. We meet many people, in many different walks of life, and we listen to them. In doing so, we learn new techniques that we can apply in new ways.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Q Why does a small business need a blog?
A Maybe it doesn't NEED a blog, per se, but it BENEFITS from having one. Your blog is your ground level, your front lines, of online customer contact.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Customers should know that Internet strategy and related functions are creative jobs. That means there will be occasional edits and modifications, and that you get what you pay for - if you try to talk your provider down to the lowest price, you will not get the best work, and you might lose the provider.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. We are currently working with Kelly Karius, a social worker with whom we've worked before, on a Web site and business plan for her Bully Outreach Project, in which she intends to drive across Canada, visit schools everywhere along the way, and call for an end to bullying. We believe in this project and are proud to support it.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Our staff members have been working on keeping up to date with Wordpress and Joomla design and Fan Pages. We are working hard on graphics as well.

Soon we will begin training in Flash design.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. In the next several years

- we'll know whether Foursquare has a place in business
- we'll know whether MySpace will survive
- we'll see how Twitter will monetize itself, and whether we'll need to pay for its services

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Build a couple of sites gratis, and get some testimonials.
