Also, there are a couple of steps you can take to minimize your legal bill. First, if you are organized with your documents and other factual information, then you are more likely to reduce the time an attorney needs to spend on your matter. Given that attorney fees (in most instances) are based on the time spent on your matter, you need to reduce the work for the attorney as much as possible. Usually, the more organized you are, the less the attorney needs to do to finish the job. This translate into less attorney time spent, and most importantly, less attorney fees charged to you.
Finally, do not wait until the last minute to consult an attorney. If you think you might need one, consult one immediately. Not only will more time help you shop for the right attorney, but it will also allow the attorney to do a better job for you.
