Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. A big shop with a big overhead just means you get charged to for that overhead.

Look for a trustworthy, certified independent technician who will provide you with a long term support structure.

Word of mouth testimonials and street cred are also very important. Check on sites such as Angie's list or LinkedIn before you trust someone with your most confidential information.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. There are many problems that occur with computers that are easily remedied. A good tech will help you with preventative maintenance advice.

He should not only install software to this end but also provide you with some basic training to go with it.

He should be willing to explain to you in detail the what and why of what he is doing.

Its not always in his best interest to help you prevent future problems but a true professional would rather gain your trust than simply take your money.
