Banjo lessons with Matt have been so fun - he is a great teacher and I highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning bluegrass banjo. He is very responsive to how quickly you are able to pick things up and is so enthusiastic about the instrument. He has great learning aids and provides notes and other tab-like sheets to help with practice at home. He is very generous with him time and will stay with you longer than your lesson time if you're up for it! Thanks Matt.

I spoke with Matt. I am interested in learning Jens Kruger style of playing, and Matt does not offer that style of playing, so this just wasn't a good lead.

Matt exudes a passion for pickin' and clearly enjoys sharing his love of the banjo with others. I have been thoroughly enjoying my lessons with Matt and would have no reservations recommending him to anyone wanting to learn bluegrass music and how to play the banjo.

I have studied under Matt's tutorage since March 2012. I have found Matt to be a very dedicated instructor as his love for this bluegrass instrument shines in his eyes whenever he picks up the banjo. Mr. Glazer demonstrates extreme patience in his quest to make the student confident in their ability to learn. I feel very fortunate to find such a "teacher"!

I'd like to thank you all for the such kind words. You can trust me when I say that I receive many more blessings in teaching you than you receive in learning. It truly is my honor to have you all as students and I look forward to each lesson. To see the light in your eye's is the true gift. Thanks again ;-)

Great teacher, Worth the long drive. Went above and beyond just a typical lesson, Teaches you based on how you learn and not like a book. Recommend

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

BANJO LESSONS-R-FUN ! :-) and I make that happen. You can't help but to enjoy the banjo. Once you start seeing and hearing your progress it drives you to go farther. Desire is half the battle won and practice is the key. If you've ever heard the picking of bluegrass banjo and said to yourself, "I'd like to learn how to do that", then you need to call me today !! Drilling and practice are essentials for learning any musical instrument and the banjo is no exception. You have to do the time but the payoff is so worth it and drives you to do more !

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Bluegrass banjo picking is a fine art and very intricate process. Experience dictates the knowledge and practice dictates your finesse'. There are some great banjo pickers that are not necessarily good teachers. I specialize in the "teaching" aspect and the importance of developing "good" habits which are essential for bluegrass banjo. There are three rules to learning bluegrass banjo: Slow (practice and learn slowly) Smooth (work the "kinks" out and get it "clean") Speed (when the first 2 steps are accomplished, speed will come to you naturally)
