Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: As an editor, my goal is to help you say exactly what you want to say. Many editors start right in changing the writer's work. I will make certain your writing conforms to whichever professional style you are using (Associated Press, Chicago Manual of Style, etc.). I also will provide suggestions for improving a sentence, transition or the like - but it is your work. I love writers. Their skills, imagination and drive to communicate are inspiring - and it is great fun to walk beside them on their road. There are so many ways to say something, and each writer has a specific voice. I truly love supporting that voice. And I've learned about all sorts of amazing things by editing Ph.D. thesis in the hard sciences, as well as nonfiction articles, hard news stories and opinion pieces.

Linda provided editorial review for several of my short stories. Her standards are impeccable, her work prompt and always appropriate. I recommend her and expect to use her again. The stories were better for it: tighter, cleaner and more direct.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Ph.D. and Master's theses, including those in the hard sciences; reporting and non-fiction articles; short stories, poetry and longer works of fiction.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would send three to five pages of your work to the candidate(s) and advise them of which style is required (if any). Then see how you feel about how they edit that sample. Rest assured that professional editors will NOT "steal" your work.
