FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Not complicated, but time is money. I currently charge an hourly rate of $20. Depending on the project, a single graphic can often take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours - Research and initial layout, hand drawing, then computer enhancement. Basically, it is approximately $200 to produce one good graphic. That doesn't include revision work. The completed project will be presented, then any adjustments and revisions after that will be charged hourly.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Medical illustrations that include anatomy, and how to use medical instrumentation and equipment. Designs for T-Shirts and other products sold on Cafe Press. Banners and other designs for birthdays, retirement, and special interest groups. Illustration for children's stories and diagrams and charts for teaching manuals. Animal and pet artwork. Usually use pixel format, but work with vector images as well. Generally, I create a graphic with colored pencil, by hand, then scan and enhance it on the computer.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
My most recent work was to produce a graphic for a marathon run. It sponsored AIDS through the Rutger Hauer Starfish Association. I had to come up with something that included AIDS and starfish. The graphic I created can be seen on my Domestic Blend website, which can be found on Cafe Press, under the "Special Blends" tab.
