Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Clean Machine mostly provides steam cleaning and air duct service. Our steam cleaning service utilizes a heavy duty truck-mounted cleaning system that ensures high temperature steam, powerful suction, and dirt is collected outside of your home.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Be ready to show the cleaning professional any problem areas and spots that need special attention.

Wait for the carpet to dry completely before walking on the carpet or moving the furniture back into the room. If you replace the furniture too quickly, rust or stains from paint or finishes could mar the carpet permanently.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The use of brand name cleaning products does not necessarily suggest an affiliation with those companies or added credibility for the cleaning service.

Dark edges along the base of walls is called "filtration soiling" meaning simply that there are cracks between the bottom of the wall and the floor drawing air through the carpet much faster that air moves through the rest of the carpet. The edges accumulate much more oily and airborne residue along the edges and it grows darker over the years. Usually a heavy chemical treatment is required to reverse this process if it can be reversed at all. You may be better off contacting a local fire/flood restoration company than a carpet cleaner to deal with this as it is usually classed as a restoration procedure outside of normal carpet cleaning.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Ask what certifications they have. Look for professionals with IICRC certifications

To prevent voiding warranties, contact the carpet manufacturer before allowing additional treatment, such as reapplying stain treatments or antistatic treatments.
