Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. My most popular services are micro-current facials, skin care consultations, customized skin care, and full body waxing.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Ask what product line the aesthetician uses. Research the line and find out what ingredients are used. Learn if these ingredients are certified organic or if they are otherwise toxic. An aesthetician that is picky about their quality of products, tend to have high standards when it comes to cleanliness and achieving results safely.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. I would want to know about micro-current facials. This is a pain free service that uses mild electrical impulses and color light therapy to produce dramatic toning, tightening, and smoothing results. One of my personal skin care secrets, I receive this treatment all of the time.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Clients should be ready to receive an amazing service as well as learn a few healthy ways to care for their skin.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I'm not just your average aesthetician. My education incorporated many holistic modalities such as reflexology, acupressure facial rejuvenation, micro-current training for facial toning, herbalism, nutrition, lymphatic techniques that naturally remedy issues such as chronic under eye puffiness and dark circles, and much more...
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I like showing people how simple it can be to have and maintain the skin they desire. Sustainable beauty enhances the whole body, saves money, and reduces waste.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. Clients always want to know how to reduce or eliminate acne. I respond by asking questions about their diet and their current skin regimen. The answers to these questions help me understand where they can adjust their lifestyle to produce the skin they desire.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. I once gave a facial to young girl who had extremely sensitive skin. As she arrived with her mother, I noticed that when the mother asked her a question, the young girl was very defensive. I took note of this, since our emotions are very much related to the state of our skin. I made a correlation between the girl's sensitive attitude towards her mother and the redness of her skin. During the facial, I was able to give the young girl a few dietary and skin care tips as well as a few affirmations that could help emotionally soothe her experience in the world. When the facial was complete, the young girl's skin was no longer red. She seemed to have a bit more confidence and was no longer irritable. This is a great example of how the skin reflects the well being of the whole body, and how holistic aesthetics can address the entire person.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. As an aesthetician I am certified to perform facials, body treatments, facial peels, micro-derm abrasion, micro-current facial, waxing, skin consultations, and sell skin care products. Even though, I do offer hand and foot treatments, I am not a nail technician.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. Initially I was an interior designer, and then my grandmother got sick. I left my career to take care of her which opened my mind to the importance of preventative health. As a way to relax, I would get facials every month. Then when our time together came to an end, I found a school that combined holisitic health with aesthetics: The Southwest Institute of Natural Aesthetics. They say, everything happens for a reason, and my current career satisfies me more than my previous one ever did.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. A woman who had received many micro-current facials from another practitioner told me that she didn't think that this treatment works. I offered her a free facial with the machine that I use, called the Acutron, and she accepted. For three days after the service, she would awaken to find that her skin looked better than the day before. She was so pleased with the results, she now receives treatments from me on a regular basis. The machine I use is one that is also used in doctor's and chiropractor's offices and by massage and chinese acupuncture therapists. Its is a top of the line machine.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. Currently, I am studying to be a holistic healthcare provider. This means I will be certified in herbalism and nutrition. This will allow me to take my aesthetic practice to an even deeper place, where I will be able to make herbal remedies and recommend nutritional diets as another way to holistically heal and support the skin.
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. The ingredients that are being discovered in the rainforest are the future of many therapeutic products including skin care. Spiritual nutrition is also the diet of the future, as it activates the youth-ing gene in our bodies.
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. I recently was hired for a Ladies Spa Day. I went to the home of the client and set up shop. I tended to her mother, daughter, and two sisters. One at a time, they all received custom facials from me as they lunched, laid by the pool, and sun bathed. What a lovely way to spend the afternoon with family.
For four facials, including travel time and the time to set-up and break down, the whole job took six hours. I offered her a 10% discount since she was a regular client of mine. In addition, I also gave a 10% discount on all products sold.
Next time, you are looking to have a party for your girlfriends, no matter the age, think about a making it a spa day!
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. I would advise to learn how to make organic skin care products or to research and implement an organic and toxin free product line into their practice.
Q. Write your own question and answer it.
A. Is there any question I did not answer? If you have any further questions or inquiries, please feel free to email me. My email address is: Reem@ihavebeautifulskin.com
