Like many people I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do in life or which career path I wanted to take. So you may be still looking for your ideal or dream job, well let me tell you, I found mine!

Let me take you back to my child hood where I can see fond memories of my grandma and mother collaborating in the kitchen to cook for us kids and the family. They prepared sumptuous southern favorites, you know like crispy fried chicken, zesty collard greens, golden brown home made biscuits, tender slow cooked brisket that just falls apart and lets not forget to mention desserts that will knock your socks off; juicy peach cobber with a nice brown lattice topping, chocolate Texas sheet cake, dense pound cakes and savory sweet potato pie.

I watched carefully and intently to savor the family traditions. I imitated those recipes and perfected them and I created my own recipes that will also be passed down from generation to generation. My passion is not only in creating the finest southern cuisine, but serving it with style.

I want you to taste, feel and experience my passion for cooking and baking southern favorites which are not only delicious but also presented with class and sophistication. I learned from the best but I have added some fabulous desserts to my repertoire that neither grandma nor my mother would dare to endeavor to make, such as gourmet cheesecakes and decadent layer cakes. Now that you know about me; I invite you to my house, Rachael’s Dessert House.

Rachael's Dessert House specializes in freshly prepared desserts that include over a dozen types of cheesecakes such as Tiramisu, Decadent Raspberry, Turtle and our specialty the Blonde Brownie cheesecake.

Our desserts were recently enjoyed and featured at the Columbus Wine & Food festival that was held at Franklin Park Conservatory which included a $100 entry fee.

We also offer mouthwatering meals that are prepared in house and from scratch. Our desserts or meals will suit many occasions from personal events to business functions.

Our most requested entrees and side dishes are our Chicken and Spinach lasagna with white sauce, Herb Meat loaf with white herb sauce and comforting side dishes such as baked macaroni and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes.

A couple of our clients include Teleperformance USA and Chester, Willcox & Saxbe.

We are very interested in becoming a fresh dessert supplier for other caterers, restaurants and other food service organizations.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. The most common types of jobs that I cater for my clients are events that require great american and Southern desserts for all types of events such as dessert bufffets for weddings, lunches and meals for corporate events, buffet meal set up for family reunions and celebrations for many types of events.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I get to enjoy all kinds of desserts such as cheesecake, cupcakes, brownie, cobblers and cakes. I especially enjoy carrot cake as it is a customer favorite and is frequently requested. I has a nutty butter cream frosting with a touch of real vanilla extract. I also like that I get to be a part of many peoples lives as one of the highlight of their events. Life is stressful enought so why not have some dessert. Life is short so have dessert first!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I think it's very important for customers to be aware that caterers not only purchase, cook and prepare food and desserts but they also manage alot of behind the scene tasks that often go unnoticed by the customer but are often apreciated by the guests. This profession can be exhausting but it also yields great satisfaction from having many satisfied customers.
