My 4 year old daughter and I have been taking piano lessons for the past 4 months. We have a wonderful teacher in Philip. He is so patient with my daughter and so helpful to me. It is so easy to have the lessons in our home. I don't have to worry about traffic, being late, or rounding up my daughter to get to lessons. PLIYH also has a wonderful lending library so you don't have to buy many books. I would recommend them to anyone.

We have used Piano Lessons in Your Home for about 7 years and have been pleased with them. We started with one student and now have three. Over the years we have had three teachers. Each one had their own style and methods, but all were good. It has been nice to not have to travel for lessons, especially when we have had new babies and/or young children. We have also had positive interactions with the main office when needed. They have responded to emails quickly and been willing to work with us on teacher selection. Each teacher prepares their own schedule and coordinates at least one recital or audition per year. All of our students achieved Superior or Superior Plus status at this years Piano Guild Auditions.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When selecting a music teacher, make sure that your provider has the right personality match with your child. The right personality is critical to progression and enjoyment.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. They key to playing well is consistent practice. It doesn't need to be an hour every day - 15 or 20 minutes every day will show significant progress. But don't worry too much about playing ability - studying piano and music theory significantly improves math and logic skills.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What is your policy on cancellations and make up lessons? Do you teach one specific method, or do you choose a method based on the child? How often do you hold recitals for your students? How do you challenge your students to encourage them to keep learning?
