Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. An inexpensive way to keep slugs of your hostas and other succulents is to crush eggshells and spread them around your plants. The slugs soft bodies can't tolerate the sharp edges of the eggshells.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I take pride in my work. I not only perform landscape services I also educate my customers by explaining what I'm doing and why. I think this helps the customer to take more pride in their landscape by being more involved. I have a vast knowledge of not just 1 or 2 aspects of landscape but all aspects; everything from water features to mowing and everything in between. I also guarantee all of my work. I also will not just perform a service that I do not feel is the best option for obtaining the the goals of my customer without first providing other alternatives to obtain the highest quality and functionality of my customers landscape.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I look at landscape as art. I find that nothing is more gratifying than doing a full install on a job and being able to stand back and just say I did that. I love it.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Why is it say hard to keep my lawn green and growing without having to pay a bunch off money for monthly chemical treatments. The reason is because we are in what's called the transition zone as far as our climate. So we have both cool and warm season grasses in our lawns. Unfortunately the climate isn't ideal for either cool or warm grasses. The cold gets to cold for the warm season grasses and the heat gets to hot for the cool season grasses and most lawns are a blend.
