Received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from The Ohio State University in December of 2007.
I've been tutoring math privately since 2001.
Although I got my start tutoring college students, for the past four years I mostly have been tutoring high school students in their homes. I meet students in their homes, tutoring rooms in libraries and many other public places. This usually depends on their ability to deal with distractions.
I don't want you to feel suspicious of hidden charges:
For the first lesson, I do not charge for my drive time. After that I charge what my GPS device tells me I will be traveling. I pro-rate this to the minute at a rate of $20 per hour.
I do not charge for at least the first 30 minutes of 'getting-to-know-you' interactions. I do not charge for these types of interactions between tutoring sessions.
My rates vary widely, depending on what math it is you need to learn. See the website for tutoring rates for specific courses. I have to see a textbook or syllabus to determine the charge anyway. I do not charge for this type of investigation.
I accept checks only for advances. Advances are not necessary for the first two sessions. Before scheduling the third and subsequent lessons, I do require an advance.
