Question and answer
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I enjoy servicing computer and the interaction with customers.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. How do i prevent viruses?
Have a valid and up to date Antivirus and Internet security.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. There are a lot of things to suggest in the PC industry. There’s software and hardware sides to all of this. Starting with hardware, you need to learn what kinds of hardware work together and what wont. Each piece of hardware will affect the performance of the machine in a different way and some can affect the performance of other pieces of hardware. Taking memory for instance if you get 2 stick of memory (DDR-2 800 and DDR-2 1066) both will run at the slowest speed. Your hard drive will affect the performance of how fast data is transferred to the motherboard. Your processor will affect how fast it can be processed. Single, duel, quad and hex cores are what are available currently. By this time next year there could be an Oct core with 8 physical processors and thread splitting to act like 16 processors. As you can see there’s a lot to learn in this industry and that's just a small part of hardware. Start off with a couple classes at a local trade school or college to see if this is what you truly want to get into. Research doesn’t hurt and costs less.
Q. What are you currently working on improving?
A. I am always working on my knowledge of computers, systems, software and hardware as these areas change on what seems like a daily basis in the computer industry.
