Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Hiring a private instructor is a decision that requires thought about many different aspects. You really want to make sure that you choose an instructor that uses both old and new techniques. The art of drumming is constantly changing but there are also tried and true techniques that are considered timeless. Also, make sure you choose someone who has a nice facility with lots of access to media and other teaching materials
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. There aren't really any secrets except that passion for music can really separate a good teacher from a great teacher. Make sure that the love of music is first and foremost in your teacher of choice. It will make it easier to constantly move forward and grow faster as a musician.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Price, length of lesson, cancellation policy, needed materials, and amount of experience. These are the most important questions but you will also want to consider compatibility with yourself or your child (whoever will be taking lessons). Having fun is the most important part of music and learning!
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Location is a big one. You want to make sure that distance is not an issue as I give lessons from my studio. With gas being as expensive as it is, that will be a big additional expense to consider when thinking about lessons. Also, you want to consider the amount of desire the student has. Lessons are an investment and you want to make sure the student really is interested and will stay interested over time.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I feel that I have a big advantage over other instructors because I have a huge appreciation for all types of music. I want to learn everything that I can about the instrument and I try to instill that same appreciation into all of my students. I also feel that because I combine disciplined study with a real effort to have fun I tend to get faster results from students because they really are able to make practicing a lot of fun!
