Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. In decreasing order

- Service Changes

-Troubleshooting calls

-adding circuits for various items

-inspecting house wiring

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask alot of questions and make sure they are very knowledgeable about electric. See how long they (or the person send to your house) has been doing electric. Ask about their experience in the field as well. Check out their background and referrals.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Think of an electrician like a doctor. When your under and knocked out do you want someone you don't fully trust?

It's the same thing in a way. Most of our work you won't or can't see. You have to trust your electrician just like your doctor.

"Just because someone made something work, doesn't mean they did it right or safe"

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I still work with my father who started Denny's Electric in 1972. He actually started doing electric in 1956 with his uncle. I started in my teen's and still work today with him. We have a few other guys when the load get's too much. Everyone we use has at least 10 yrs exp in the trade or related. We don't use "techs" with minimal experience. We all take pride in our work and do things like we would all do them in our mom's house. We are not flashy, don't advertise much ($$wise), and have low overhead, enabling us to keep our prices fair. We are highly trusted and have customers who just give us keys and let us go in to do our work. We have a strong work ethic and go above and beyond often. One thing that most homeowners don't realize is electricians do most of their work where you will never see, therefore, they can do things they shouldn't and you will never know. We do it right, code, and safe the first time.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like meeting people and quoting jobs, troubleshooting work, and solving problems for customers and going the extra mile.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Why is most of our power out?

Something broke or burnt in two.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I got a call that the power went out. It turns out that all the bulbs were bad, and all the machines were not plugged in.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Just took after my father.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I do continuing education every night on internet. Follow and read IEC, lighting, and latest news industry. Stay up to date with latest tips/tricks of the trade with other fellow electricians on a blog site (this is one of best things for knowledge). Have an extensive line of electrical books (100's) that I am always reading and learning from. Learning in this field never ends and if some electrician tells you they know it all....you better run fast!

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Yes. We are expanding into lighting retrofits for large facilities with the best lights around. We do the full audit, analysis, recommendations, funding, tax paperwork, and install. All with No or little money. It's called Pay as you Save. Inquire if you know someone with a large facility that may be interested. Usually, their electric bill needs to be over 10k a month to see quick and substantial paybacks with low ROI's. We can still do it for under 10k as well.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. Large dwelling rewire. Ran 32 circuits and did extensive repair work.

15k

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Flat Rate for mostly everything. Except, complex troubleshooting calls. I'll bid it a price and we stick to that price no matter how long it takes us. No suprises from us.
