Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. We average around 50 to 60 weddings a year. We provide entertainment for private events, i.e. private parties, corporate parties, bar/bat mitzvahs and others. We also are in some bars and clubs providing music occasionally through the week. In 2010 we did 57 weddings and 213 events, along with three bars every week. Good year!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Know about the room layout, and where the DJ would be located, also the photo booth. Lighting is a huge option, yet some lighting cannot fit in rooms with small ceilings, or if the DJ is in a corner. Also, my extra services with the spotlight, projector with screen, monogram lighting all takes a good amount of space. People don't realize before they want the add ons about spacing and the room layout. So make sure everything fits right and people can still move throughout the room freely.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I have been blessed to be able to DJ thousands of events around Ohio. I love to DJ and grow my business to be able to handle any requests with photo booth, flowers, photography, officiant and many other services we offer.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How do you get the crowd moving? I play the right song, get on the dancefloor and break the ice for the dancing, then the party rolls out!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. How many hours are actually put into a wedding. Most people think that it's just the hours booked are the hours that I put into a wedding. It actually takes anywhere from 16 to 30 hours per wedding depending on the specifics of the wedding. From meetings to buying and editing songs, to set up and tear down, it takes some time, but all well worth it.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I started out in a band in high school and won battle of the bands and had gigs lined up throughout the year. After graduation, all the members went off to college including myself. In college, I had all the sound equipment and decided to get into DJ'ing the college parties. From there MegaBeat Music DJ Services LLC. was born. It has grown into Mega Entertainment offering all types of different services for any event.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I just recently did Bexley High Schools Winter Homecoming. It was a great time, and had well over 450 kids dancing along with the teachers and principal. At the Palm House at Franklin Park Conservatory we had the place rockin' ! I had tons of compliments at the end of the night from the staff and parents that came a little early to pick up their kids on how the music sounded great and it nice that it was all edited. I am proud to put on a good show, and will stop at nothing to do so.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I am a member of ADJA, promo only, weddingwire, and other sites to promote and stay up on the latest music. I also subscribe to Mobile Beat which puts on a conference every year in Vegas bringing out all the newest hottest equipment and trends. I try my hardest to keep up with all the trends, but I guarantee that my music is updated weekly. :)

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. The latest developments are the LED lighting. I have two of the chauvet 4 bar lighting systems, and I am about to purchase the Bose L1 sound systems. Right now, QSC and EV are the brands I use, and they are the best.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. All of my pricing is available on my website. I have multiple packages to choose from. The differences are the size of the sound packages, so the bigger the room the bigger the sound system should be. Which only gymnasiums and big auditoriums would require an upgrade in sound. I also have package deals with my photo booths as well. The best deal in Ohio, Guaranteed! With the quality and price, the package cannot be beat.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Always cater to the client. Not only should you gain a client, you should gain a friend.
