Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Always make sure the person you are hiring has the experience to do the job! And that they carry liability insurance! If so, their Insurance Agent will be able to fax or email you a copy with your name listed as the customer! And never, never, never give money up front! If they are a reputable Tree Service, they will tell you that payment will be accepted at time of completion of the job! If it is a dangerous tree that could cause damage to your home, it is a good idea to ask for references and check them out yourself! If they have done dangerous removals they should be able to supply you with as many references as you like! Another good idea is to check them out through the local Better Business Bureau. If they are reputable, than they are a Member! God Bless! Preacher...

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Don't give any money up front! They will not show up to do the job! Don't pay any money half way! They will not come back to finish the job! A reputable Tree Service will wait till they are finished to collect money! Always have an Insurance Policy from their Liability Insurance Carrier in place with your name on it as the customer before they start the job! If they are a reputable company, this will only take 15-30 minutes! When a Heavy Duty Equipment drives over your yard, it will sink down into the grass and leave ruts! Most of them will tell you it will in advance, but some dodge the question and say SORRY afterwards. Professional climbers that don't use bucket trucks are a better fit for residential tree services!

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. #1. Are you Insured and may I get your Insurance Carrier to fax me a copy with my name on it!(If their Insurance has lapsed, they won't be able to!)

#2. What types of Payments do you accept.

#3. Do you have References of other Customers that you have Performed this same type of work for recently.

#4. Have you ever had any accidents doing this kind of job.

#5. We do not pay any money until the job is complete. Will that be OK, or would that be a problem.

#6. Do you have newer equipment, or older equipment.

#7. Do you use ropes and pulley systems. And are they newer and in good shape.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Tree Trimming and Removals are a very dangerous profession. Many people have been seriously hurt doing things they should have hired an expert to do for them. And some have even lost their lives. Even the most seasoned veteran Tree Climbers have experienced Accidents at one time or another. It is a good idea to also have a Hold Harmless Agreement in place just in case something were to happen! This will keep you out of court and keep you from unexpected expenses just in case. There are people who are looking for an easy buck and will do unethical things when the opportunity presents itself. Always better to be safe than sorry!
