Question and answer
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Normally, I'd say, "check the provider's reviews". If he has any negatives, they should be understandable or explained by the provider. Of course, as I write this, I'm new to thumbtack and, so, don't have any reviews. You can, however, check my reviews on Google: http://tinyurl.com/5vsemqd
Also, spend some time emailing back and forth with the provider before awarding the job. Make sure you can easily understand what he tells you (and vice-versa) and that he doesn't try to pressure you. Small difficulties early on usually mean larger ones later in the job.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. My Dad worked on computers back when you had to walk inside them, move wires, and change vacuum tubes to program them. He purchased a "mini-computer" for my Mom's accounting business. It was "mini" it that it didn't quite take up the whole room. When I was about 6, I wrote my first program on it.
Since then, one of the greatest pleasures of my job has been learning all the new technology as it comes out. I found my calling very early in life.
