FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Since I had the biggest music collection, I began DJ'ing waaaay back in high school. I hadn't pursued it beyond that until my son was in high school. I noticed their dances were just, ahem, totally lame and boring with poor attendance. I decided to do something about that, so I bought some basic equipment and went from there. For the first year, I continued to reinvest all of the $'s from events into improving my equipment and lighting. Today, I've got exactly the system and lighting that fits perfect for both wedding / wedding receptions as well as dance parties. I continuously seek out new and old great music to grow my huge playlist. And, I'm always keeping my eye out for new, fun things I can add to the party. I continue to donate my time to supporting our local kids' dances and offer free or deep discounts to charitable fundraisers in the area.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
NEVER go with price alone! You won't get what you paid for - too much, or too little. Think about how few times you actually use a DJ, but how important is it for your event to go off PERFECT?! And, did you know that after a wedding, 80% of guests surveyed say the thing they remember most was the entertainment? Engage in conversation with a DJ who has performed at events like yours many times. Ask for suggestions, ask about experience, ask for references! ALWAYS work with a written contract - and never even think about hiring someone who does not have a services contract!
