Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Andrew thinks of himself as a music teacher first and a guitar/bass teacher second. He is aware of the skills required to be a successful musician and strives to develop these in each of his students. In the same way that general education touches on many subjects to create a well-rounded student, an education in music should touch on many subjects to create a well-rounded musician.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The best part of teaching is seeing the "light bulb" turn on in the face of a student. It is the moment of epiphany, when something that previously seemed complex suddenly seems obvious. It is often followed by an "ohhh... I get it now!"
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. The most common request a music teacher hears is, “will you teach me how to play my favorite song?” Andrew’s answer is, “Sure, but how about I help you figure it out for yourself?” If you give a man a fish, he eats for a day… If you teach a man to fish, he spends all his time at the river.
