Introduction: I enjoy the challenge of curving to the individual & customizing lessons for each student! I also a vast wealth of real world experience. I'm constantly playing live shows and recording! Here is a link to a recent review http://portlandtribune.com/lor/107-my-community/entertainment/123168-west-linns-kenny-lavitz-releases-new-album- Through the years I have had many rewards from sharing my musical knowledge with others. Many of my students have become great musicians & still come back to share that with me!

the ultimate guitar teacher: i knew the 7 basic chords; essentially a rhythm player-----my goal is to be a jazz guitarist with a solid blues foundation ---with Kenny's mentoring the dream is becoming a reality! Kenny brings an extremely practical intelligence that sees you through any difficulty in mastering technique, chord progression, timing etc.---his teaching style is saturated with humor, expertise---(any time he was in a new city performing, he'd find out who the best guitarist was, then take a lesson from them), Kenny makes you feel confidently appraised of your potential, constantly reassuring one with the mantra:: "i never knock creativity" then recommends listening to artists that would inspire or further develop the hidden talent he instantly recognizes as part of his teaching agenda--currently he's bringing out the 'Charlie Christian/Joe Pass' in me (who knew?)-- both styles of guitar playing have been laying dormant too long in my heart of hearts. I've spent years blundering forth without any encouraging teachers....and now---I've found one: Kenny Lavitz ---my weekly guitar lesson is one of the peak events of my week; for i know ill leave the lesson blessed with a generous musicians' willingness to share every iota of knowledge he has accumulated from years of playing in this country and abroad. Kenny is the real deal...look no further. A lesson from Kenny leaves one confidently thinking: "Hey, I'm actually getting it!!" "How great is that??!!" check him out, you'll quickly learn he's the best in Portland.
