A. Even now life coaches are not very well understood. We are sort of a combination of counselor/consultant/motivator. Most good coaches tend to focus on solutions rather than problems. Certifications and licenses are often misleading and confusing. I recommend taking advantage of a free consultation to get a feel for whether a coach is a good match for you or not.
A. My background in psychology as well as my experience of having overcome depression in my own life serve to offer a unique perspective to clients. I have an understanding of various experiences and circumstances that allows me to more clearly see what's going on in your situation.
A. I love helping others and seeing them grow and evolve in ways they may not have believed possible at the start. Working with others, connecting and communicating with them on a deep, open and honest level is so rewarding. This is real stuff!
A. How do I get to the point where I'm not struggling with "their issue" anymore?
Reconnect with your inner self, your truest desires and passions in life, and make that your focus rather than all the stuff going on outside of yourself. This, of course, is just the beginning of the process, but it is the best place to start.
A. Life coaching was a natural evolution for me. I dealt with depression for about 20 years and it nearly killed me! One day I decided I had enough and it was time to make my life better. I'd tried counseling and that really didn't work for me so I just started reading and taking time to really see inside myself.
Ultimately, I wrote a book, Being, Inspired: Finding Answers, which was an amazing experience of delving into the answers to some big questions I had about life. A bit later I wrote another book, an ebook actually, called Cure Your Depression: 7 Steps to Peace, Love and Joy.
I discovered that others could benefit from my experiences and that I had a real gift for helping others find their particular answers and begin to live lives filled with happiness and love. I absolutely love the feeling I get when I see happiness in others. When I have been able to contribute in some way to that happiness my own heart soars and my soul sings!
