As an exercise physiologist, dancer and student of the dharma, Hilloah shares her love affair with yoga whenever she teaches!

Hilloah has been involved in teaching fitness, wellness and safety since 1970. Yoga has been and continues to be a mainstay in Hilloah’s practice. With the creation of Balance Yoga® she incorporates the best of many yoga styles in changing, flowing sequences to bring efficient and safe movement to people of all ages.

Special emphasis is placed on re-balancing shortened and weakened areas by utilizing isolated stretches and specific strengthening. This “re-balancing” philosophy effectively provides release from misalignments due to repetitive movements, injuries, reduced range of motion from aging, poor posture, to name a few.

A Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology combined with her Onsen Therapy practice of 25 years and a deep background in dance and sports, all contribute to her unique depth of teaching style.

Hilloah teaches with special attention to detail bringing a safe and efficient form of yoga infused with music and a mindful flow of movement, breath and joy.

A firm believer in keeping a strong and youthful being, she continues to grow into the possibilities that yoga offers. Hilloah is presently studying at Spirit Rock in the 3-year Mindful Yoga Meditation Training and teaches retreats in Mexico and other relaxing locations.

Open your being to the increased energy and clarity that balance can bring. Come join us and enjoy a deepened practice that can create a lasting change in your life!

“Do your work without attachment and being balanced in success or failure. Balance is called Yoga.” Bhagavad-Gita

Hilloah has awesome yoga classes in her studio. Not only is the space just right for a personal group yoga experience, the instructor really knows what's she doing. Personal help and attention. Highly recommend her classes.

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. It comes from a deep place in my heart and total love of teaching! I have an excellent base for teaching yoga from my Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, 25 years as an Onsen Therapist, 40 years as a teacher/presenter of health/fitness, a lifetime of dharma practice & study and as a dancer.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Wonderful people!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. I get a lot of technical questions on how to adapt asana and practice to my students particular needs. Since I work widely with the Baby Boomer population, after 50 we're dealing with a lifetime of adaptations to injuries, habits, postures, etc. which Balance Yoga can offer re-balancing solutions.
