Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Be picky! There are many companies in our profession that are focused on the bottom line... Money! They sacrifice good honest work and they are willing to be not 100% honest with customers.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If I was a customer I would want to know if getting into this type of business is worth it.

The answer is yes... working with customers overall is enjoyable.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. If you are looking for a window cleaner, ask about their rates. Some charge by the window pane, customers must know what type of windows they have and how much window panes they have, if you don't know....count it. Also, some clean screens and tracks along with the windows and their price will reflect that.

For customers looking for gutter cleaners, there is a difference between cleaning your gutters and downspouts and flushing your gutters and downspout. Some just clean gutters and downspouts but don't flush them also, because it takes more time.

For customers that are looking for moss removal from roofs, there are many ways to remove moss from roofs, but know how they plan on doing it. Some methods will damage your roof shingles and/or void your warranty.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Both my wife and I actually go out to bid and perform the work ourselves. Many businesses have 4 or more employees, which some do the estimate and others do the work and the owner sits back and makes a profit on work he didn't do himself.

My wife and I truly believe actually talking to the customer and throughout the day we are performing the work we make sure we are doing the work they requested. No miscommunications!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Believe it or not, my wife and I enjoy working together, it has been over 3 years! We both are customer service oriented and detail driven in regards to our work. So the customer gets our best.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Many customers ask why many companies charge a lot for moss removal and treatment services.

It could be several reasons, from recouping cost from increased insurance that they had to get... to the time it takes to do a good job that the moss will stay gone for longer than a year.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. My wife and I are both handy. She went to school to be an auto mechanic! I like working on electrical projects. We did some of blue collar work part time and full time we worked in banking. Well, banking got really cut throat so we decided to work for ourselves and an opportunity came up to learn window cleaning and other services.

Q. What are your most common types of jobs?

A. In the Winter season, we handle moss removal and gutter cleaning.

In Spring and Fall seasons, we clean windows, moss treatment and gutter cleaning, with some pressure washing.

In Summer, mainly windows and pressure washing.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. We just as a company got certified with The State of Oregon to treat moss on roofs and grounds. We are required every 5 years to take 40 hours worth of classes to stay current with regulations.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Gutter Cleaning ranges depending on height of house, length of gutters, access to the gutters. $85-$225!

Window Cleaning includes tracks and screens, inside and out $10.00 per window, just outside $6.00 per window!

Pressure Washing starts at $100.00

Moss Removal starts at $100.00

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Focus on two or three services. And strive to do them well! Many customers like a business that can do more than one service but not too many, because it can come across that you are not detailed or skilled enough to perform one well.

Shawn and Karli starting doing work for me in winter 2009-2010. We have commercial office buildings. The work started out as a small job. The two of them did so very well on the small job, I added other jobs. Now, when I have work I think fits for them, I call them. They are flexible, do good research and they tell you if they don't feel comfortable handling a specific job. They are Timely, do Very professional work and they have good follow-up. And they are both very nice people. Call them, ask them if they can do the job you want accomplished and they will give you a straight answer and if you hire them, they Will perform. I've used the Adams Approach on several occasions and they're terrific! I'm moving into a new house soon and the first call I made was to Shawn and Karli to clean the gutters and windows! They're on time, clean up after themselves and their rates are reasonable. Give them a call.
