A. For arborist services plant appraisal reports for insurance companies, lawyers or claims adjusters. Tree preservation and protection plans for land developers and property owners. Tree servcies technical thinning of large trees or removals.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask questions to find out about who will be doing the work, do I have local references or examples of work, what kind of time frame for the work to be done, can I tell areas of tree work examples the potential client could go by and see?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Tree service work such as pruning the work is seen by many people for years to come. This shows the quality of my work. Tree removals are just that once they are done the work is gone. Pruning I may be back to the tree 3-7 years to do a touch up.

Arborist reports, my quality of reports are professional and concise.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. That I am the whole aspect of what I am selling. I am on site from the sale of the service till the project is complete.
Having the satified customers and knowing I have been in business as long as I have because of referals and return customers.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Are you licensed, bonded and insured? Yes.
I am licensed with the State of Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) and must show proof of bond and insurance to be licensed by them. CCB # 189453.
Are you going to be on-site when the work is done?
Yes, I am on-site for the work and to make sure the work is done to satisfaction of the customer.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. In this profession there are many who can sell trees services or carry a chainsaw, this doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. Ask questions, and get to know the person who is selling the service. In my line of work, I will give you straight forward answers to the questions you have about tree care, health , risk and safety. Call me today!

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I got into this line of work when a friend of mine who was in tree care, reminded me that we played in the trees as children and would I like to make money working with trees? I accepted his offer and have been working and learning about this profession ever since.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I was hired as an consulting arborist / expert witness concerning tree risk assessment of the neighbor's tree and roots of the tree crossing the property line causing servere property damage to my client' property. With my report about the tree roots and damage caused, the case was settled prior to trial and my client and his attorney were happy with my work.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I have to take 30 hours of Continuing Education (CEU's) every 2 years. Recently I took the US Forest Service course in Central Point, OR the 6th Western Hazard Tree Workshop June 2010 and in October 2010 the PNW ISA Tree Risk Assessment Course and Exam.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. I can not give a pricing on this site due to discussing pricing, the federal government has said it is illegal for arborists or tree services to trade pricing since this could lead to collusion and or price fixing. Tree service care is at one end of the pricing and consulting arborist pricing is at a higher cost due to expertness required.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Get educated about aspects of tree service and tree care, join tree professional groups such as International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA), Pacific Northwest Chapter of ISA (PNW ISA), and try to learn as much as you can by watching your fellow arborists in action doing tree work or consulting. Keeping educated about the changes in techniques and standards is important too.
