FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

As dog trainers we are at a disadvantage to other professions as there are no nationally recognized dog trainer certifications. This fact also puts our clients at a disadvantage when they are seeking training. There are so many methods and theories of dog training that it can be difficult to know which ones are correct. There are programs out there that will "certify" a trainer with no training experience simply by having them pay a monthly or yearly fee, or by completing online course work. Performance Canine, Inc. believes that by giving references from actual clients, and competing in nationally and internationally recognized dog sports with high ranking scores, we are proving that we can train dogs to perform behaviors reliably and happily. Until the world of dog training creates an acceptable method or ranking system for trainers, utilizing the expertise of judges working in dog sport associations can give valuable insight to people searching for the right trainer.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

When you hire a trainer, you are not hiring a magic pill that will make your dog perfect. No matter what type of program you are enrolling your dog into, you will have to follow up with it at home. Any trainer you hire should be able to provide you with information on what you shoud be doing with your dog based on where you are at in your training.
