Introduction: We offer a fun, safe environment where you can learn horseback riding! At the Horse Sense Riding School, we offer private and small group horseback riding lessons. We love working with students of all ages, whether you are a new student or returning to riding as an adult. In our lessons, you or your child will learn techniques and skills from many different riding styles, and develop strong horsemanship skills. We believe that each rider has different goals and skills, and we design our lesson plans to meet those individual needs. We strive to create a safe and positive environment for learning. Lease options are also available. Our senior horses have come to us as rescues or unwanted horses, and we have re-schooled them to provide the safest and most enjoyable experience possible - while still offering some challenge to more experienced riders. We are committed to providing our horses with forever homes. We have special programs for riders with disabilities, low income families, at risk youth and seniors. We also offer a work exchange program for adult riders seeking more affordable riding options.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We combine many different riding styles and techniques and our students enjoy "switching it up." Some weeks, we'll work on control and communication with your mount. In other sessions, we may work on dressage or gait transitions. Sometimes we'll play with the Western saddle and pretend we're barrel racers, and other times we may use the English saddle and focus on position and form. We emphasize private lessons, because we believe that every student has a different path and deserves the highest quality instruction. Our instructors will also introduce you to grooming techniques and how to properly and safely use many types of equipment and horse tack.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When choosing a school or stable for horseback riding, your school should emphasize safety and love their students. Analyze your interest in learning to ride - Do you want a laid back, well rounded program that will introduce you a variety of techniques, theories, and riding styles, or do you have dreams of being the next great Western Showman or Dressage Grand Prix Champion. If you find that your riding instructor isn't the best "fit" for you or your child, ask if they can refer you to a provider in your desired sphere of riding. The horse community is very small. The Horse Sense instructors take lessons with other schools and teachers, so that we can make great referrals as our students grow and decide to specialize (and we always enjoy further learning and developing our own skills too!).
