Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. The most common service I provide is Lash Extensions. It is amazing how people fall in love with the ease of not wearing mascara but always looking great.
I am also occupied with the Lash Training. After the training, I continue to check back to see how they're doing until they no longer need my help.
Of course there's always facials and waxing appointments, as well. These are the services at the foundation of my career. It's nice to be able to help others with their skincare, and I enjoy how people feel once their service is done.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. My advice to potential customers would be to call and talk to me about whatever questions they might have regarding the services I offer, and to also do some research so that they will realize the value and expertise they are getting when they come to see me.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If I were a customer, I would like to know which services I could successfully duplicate at home and which products I would need to do them. I would also like to know which services would be better left to the professionals, and how I should take care to make my service last between appointments.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. The people interested in coming to see me should have an idea of what they would like to have done. Lash clients should know what type of lash look they are interested in; waxing clients should know they need to avoid sun exposure 24-48 hours before and after their service and to let me know if they are using any retinol, vitamin A or prescription products; and facial clients should drink plenty of water before and after their service to hydrate and help flush impurities out and, also be ready to relax!

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work stands out over the work of my competitors because of the amount of time I have been doing lash extensions (since 2004), my artistic ability, my love for what I do and the value of my prices compared to others in the Portland area. You could pay a lot more for this service and get someone with a lot less experience. I'm interested in providing my services to regular people who don't want to pay too much.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I really enjoy my job because I get to meet the most wonderful and interesting people. I help enhance their appearance and make them feel gorgeous, and that makes me feel good. I feel like my clients are also my friends, and I look forward to the next time I'll see them.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Customers most commonly ask questions about what services I provide (Waxing, Facials & Lash Extensions), and which services I think would be appropriate for them to have done. If they are on a budget, I try to guide them toward the services where they will get the most out of it.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My most recent favorite story is one where a client came in for eyelash extensions for her wedding and thought they would look good, but when we were finished she almost started crying because she was so thrilled with how they turned out!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I would like customers to know that just like them, I am a real down-to-earth person who wants to fill the needs of people and make them feel beautiful in the process. I try to offer services that they need at an affordable price.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have been interested in this line of work ever since I watched my Grandma putting her makeup on every morning. She really made a production out of it and used all of these interesting potions and lotions and at the end, she looked beautiful! I was quite enchanted and it led me to the world of beauty.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. I would advise anyone who wanted to be successful in the esthetics industry to get their education from the best school they could afford and continue their education by taking classes that would increase their marketability and income potential, such as eyelash extension training. Lash extensions are to the esthetics industry like acrylic and gel nails are to the nail technicians' industry.
