FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to take time and review their full health history so I can better serve their health needs. I'm not just a massage therapist. Health and wellness is my passion, so I try to take a holistic approach to the body through massage.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Not only is continuing education (CEU's) important, it is mandatory in this field. When I first graduated, I was shocked to see how expensive CEU's were, I just couldn't afford some of the classes. As time neared my license renewal, I knew I had to take something. I ended up taking Reiki, a form of energy work, and a few other classes I found affordable. I have been licensed for almost 5 years now. I took Foot Reflexology and my instructor explained the pressure by the governing board for our practice and the high demands they put on education. She said, you either take classes because you have to, or because you want the knowledge to help your clients. I am always on the lookout for knowledge to help my clients, no matter the cost.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was purely by accident. A friend "threw his back out" and called because he couldn't get up. I went over to help him up, and he explained there was this sharp shooting pain in his low back and hip. I instinctively applied pressure to the area. Not knowing exactly what I was doing, it brought him relief and he was able to get up. I was in between jobs and he told me I should look into something along those lines. I ended up in massage school, and it has been the best thing for me.
